Apply to be KSVT's First College Network Coordinator

The College Network Coordinator will work directly with and report to KSVT's Policy Partner to help launch and manage the KSVT postsecondary network to mobilize and support students attending Kentucky colleges and universities around a vision of more just and democratic Kentucky postsecondary institutions.

Across Kentucky’s colleges, universities, community colleges, and trade schools, students are navigating rising costs, shifting campus policies, questions about institutional governance and growing concerns about whether postsecondary institutions truly reflect the needs and voices of the people they serve. Too often, students are treated as consumers of higher education rather than co-creators of it.

KSVT believes Kentucky students deserve more than a seat in the lecture hall. That’s why we are launching the Kentucky Student Voice Team’s Postsecondary Network: a new statewide effort to connect, organize, and mobilize college students across Kentucky around a vision of more just anddemocratic postsecondary institutions. And to help lead this work, we are hiring a College Network Coordinator.

About the Role

This role is about building power alongside students across Kentucky. The College Network Coordinator will help create spaces for students to organize across campuses, elevate concerns directly to institutional leadership, research and challenge inequitable policies, and strengthen student participation in campus governance and public decision-making.

From facilitating network convenings; leading recruitment of student members and post-secondary institutions; researching campus policies; and identifying relevant issue areas for the network the coordinator will play a central role in helping students move from being impacted by decisions to actively influencing them.

Their primary responsibility will be overseeing the recruitment, implementation,  and growth of the College Network. This includes recruiting, engaging, and sustaining membership from university students in Kentucky and ensuring student representation from at least 8 different Kentucky post-secondary institutions. The coordinator will lead the planning and implementation of an in-person College Network convening, campus meet-ups, and collecting data from student bodies about our focus areas. They will assist in coalition-building, by pursuing in-state partnerships with organizations serving college students.

The coordinator will lead and coordinate student meetings with campus administrators/leadership from network campuses about the issue areas. They will help draft and oversee student letters to campus administrators/leadership. The coordinator will assist students at network member campuses in testifying at their respective student government bodies about issue areas.

The coordinator will report to KSVT’s Adult Policy Partner and Policy Associate.
