On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the Kentucky Student Voice Team will attend a hearing in the KSVT v. Commonwealth of Kentucky case at 10 a.m. Immediately following the hearing, KSVT will hold a press conference at 12 p.m. to respond to the day’s proceedings and continue making the case for educational justice in the court of public opinion.
The hearing is focused on the Commonwealth’s motion to dismiss the student-led lawsuit, which challenges the state’s systemic failure to meet its constitutional obligation to provide all Kentucky students with an adequate and equitable education—as established in the landmark 1989 Rose v. Council for Better Education decision.
At the press conference, students will share lived experiences, legal context, and a call to action grounded in both constitutional law and public need. Legal representatives will offer further clarity on the implications of the hearing and the broader legal campaign.
The event will reinforce our team’s commitment to ensuring that every student in the Commonwealth—regardless of zip code—has access to the resources, opportunities and support necessary to thrive.
When: Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 12 p.m. ET
