KENTUCKY – The Kentucky Student Voice Team (KSVT) is launching a bus tour on Sunday, October 13, 2024 to raise awareness about Amendment 2, also known as the “voucher amendment.” The bus tour will feature student-led teach-ins at key locations across the state and include first-hand student testimonies on the critical impacts the amendment measure that will appear on ballots this November could have on local public schools.

Amendment 2 proposes changes to Kentucky’s state constitution that would allow public funds to be used for private school vouchers, potentially redirecting critical resources away from public schools. KSVT is working to ensure voters have the facts before the November election and holds that students can help inform the conversation about what’s at stake this Election Day.

The bus tour will kick off with a morning press conference and teach-in in Lexington, featuring KSVT members and Fayette County high school students. KSVT will then travel to Frankfort and Louisville, hosting 30-minute “teach-in” sessions to explain the potential impacts of Amendment 2 on public education. Students will address questions such as “What is a voucher?” and “How will this impact my public school?” while sharing personal stories about their experiences in Kentucky’s public schools.
