Statement on the General Assembly Overriding the Veto of HB 563

The Kentucky Student Voice Team is disappointed that the General Assembly overrode Governor Beshear’s veto of House Bill 563 this afternoon. This bill is problematic for both Kentucky schools and students, concentrating resources towards the most privileged students and districts. Instead of increasing access and affordability, HB 563 will widen equity gaps and harm already disadvantaged students the most. We reaffirm our support for public education, and commit to continuing the fight for high-quality and equitable education for all students across the Commonwealth.
