Student Voice Team joins call for Biden-Harris administration to include students
After record student turnout in the 2020 election, the Student Voice Team joins a national coalition of youth-led organizations are calling on President Biden to engage with young people across the nation and include them in the new administration.
This is an important moment in our country’s history: young Americans are more politically active and engaged than ever before, and we expect this administration to be responsive to our needs," the petition says. "As the generation that led social movements over the last several years and fundamentally changed the political landscape that determined the election, we have more than earned our seat at the table.
The petition calls for several actions including:
- Creating an Office of Young Americans within the Executive Office of the President directed by a young person
- Having the director sit on the Domestic Policy Council
- Creating an inter-agency working group to evaluate agency engagement with young Americans
- Creating more opportunities for young people to serve in government
The petition, which can be found at [youthingov.org](http://youthingov.org), provides further details on each of these actions.
Other organizations that have signed the petition include Student Voice, Future Coalition, GenUP, and March For Our Lives, among others.
