Bio

Ivy Litton is a first-year student at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, where she plans to major in Politics and English or History with a minor in Poverty & Human Capability Studies. She is a Bonner Scholar, AIM Virtual Summer Scholar, QuestBridge Match, and Johnson Scholarship recipient.

Ivy serves as a senior advisor to the Kentucky Student Voice Team (KSVT), a youth-led, intergenerationally sustained nonprofit that partners with students to co-create more just and democratic schools through education research, policy, and storytelling. In high school, she coordinated KSVT’s policy team, equipping peers to introduce and monitor legislation affecting Kentucky’s young people and to strengthen student participation in public discourse. She also played a central role in KSVT’s Voucher Awareness Myth Bus Tour, a student-led campaign that traveled statewide to share stories and statistics about how a proposed constitutional amendment to privatize public school funding would affect students’ lives.

In January 2025, Ivy joined KSVT as an organizational plaintiff in Kentucky Student Voice Team v. Commonwealth of Kentucky, a lawsuit to reaffirm students’ constitutional right to an adequate and equitable education. She continues to be a passionate advocate for Kentucky’s public schools and for ordinary citizens, particularly those from her rural hometown—work she views as foundational to a thriving democracy.
