Bio

Khoa (Ai) Ta is a Junior at Owensboro High School from Daviess County in Western Kentucky. They are the Co-Coordinator for KSVT’s Legislative-Policy Team and the First Student Board Member of Owensboro Public Schools.

Khoa, an aspiring policymaker and civic innovator, believes in the ability of youth to platform their voices for meaningful discussions about policies that affect them or others. They worked to create the Student Board Position now seen in Owensboro Public Schools as a start to this pedestal for student voice created to intentionally uplift those least heard in each community. As the 2025 legislative session comes by, they hope to work along with other Legislative Youth Advisory Councils around the nation to implement a similar role in Kentucky.

An advocate for beyond-adequate education all around the world, they began and continue efforts in fundraising and donating to impoverished areas around the world such as Huế, Vietnam. Khoa hopes to see educational institutions constantly adapt and innovate alongside our future and the decisions that young people within those institutions make. They hope to expand these efforts with their work with the Kentucky Department of Education’s Commissioner’s Student Advisory Council in the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally wanting to expand efforts for the representation of Asian communities and a movement against Asian Hate in Owensboro, the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and beyond.
